Join a PoT Playgroup!

It's 10 am, it is cold outside... the living room is covered with toys that your toddler has already rejected and you haven't left the house in days. You can't remember the last time you had a conversation about anything other than the latest episode of Sesame Street. You love being a mom, but right now you just can't seem to remember exactly why. If this has ever sounded even vaguely familiar, you should consider joining a playgroup. |
Even if you love being home with your kids, day after day, consider joining a playgroup to expand your horizons and expose your kids to different people, different styles and different households. The experiences you share with your children at playgroup will broaden your relationship with them and offer a whole bunch of new topics of conversation. And you get to go play with other toys and mess up someone else's house for a change!
Did you know that studies find that playgroups are one of the best ways for kids to learn friendship-making skills as well as building their self-esteem? Learning to socialize is a lifelong process, one that your toddler is now discovering firsthand. For the next few years your toddler will build on his/her first experiences, learning to play games, hold conversations, make friends, and delight relatives.
But playgroups don't just benefit children; they're great for parents as well. You can catch up on current events, linger over a cup of coffee, and connect with your community. Your kids, of course, have the opportunity to interact, play with new and different toys, and if you're really lucky, wear themselves out enough to take a long nap or an easy and early bedtime!
